Pisa was our second destination during our two week road trip this summer. We were able to visit with the Alvis family, who we know from our time in Korea. It was so wonderful to catch up with Jason and Jewel and see how big their kiddos have gotten. Plus, our family has grown by two since we saw them last! Jason had just recently received a promotion to CW2 and was able to have Jason (Alvis) pin him while we were there.
One evening, we went to Pisa’s Cathedral Square for a picnic. Because it was evening, it was much less crowded and the weather was gorgeous. After eating out on the grass, we walked around and took photos of the baptistry, the cathedral, and of course the famous leaning tower.
The next evening, the Alvis family brought us to the Church of St. Peter, and then we ate dinner just across the street from the church at a delicious Italian restaurant. After dinner, we drove a short distance to the Marina di Pisa. We found some gelato and tiramisu and walked along the marina at sunset.

Beautiful! All of them! I love the lighting. And the children in front of the tower. So cute!
