Happy Easter!

These two little guys are growing up so quickly! Easter was a lot of fun this year as Jason and I got to put together baskets for the kiddos, and begin to tell them the reason we celebrate. For the twelve days leading up to Easter, we went through a set of resurrection eggs to help tell them the Easter story. Right before bedtime each night, we opened one egg, talked about what was in the egg and why (symbolic items such as a cross, a piece of sponge, a stone…), and then read a passage from the Bible to go along. This morning we sat down with the boys to open the last egg. Ezra opened it and was surprised to see that it was empty. It is such a wonderful way to help him learn about Jesus’ death and resurrection. Before bed tonight, he was looking through some of his eggs from the hunt he did this afternoon. He came across an empty one, showed it to me, and said, “Look, mama, it’s empty like the tomb is empty!” Though their attention spans are short, these little ones sure do listen and remember so much.
After a amazing church service this morning, we came home for a short nap, then enjoyed a wonderful meal and fellowship with friends. Caleb had a great time participating in his first easter egg hunt. There’s something about toddlers and a natural tendency to gather colorful eggs in a basket. We really didn’t have to show him what to do. It was a full and blessed day, and the kiddos were fast asleep by bedtime.
