At the end of May we went on a weekend retreat to Schloß Heroldeck in Austria. The castle is in a beautiful location in overlooking the lake in the small town of Milstatt, and it has a colorful history. It was originally built by an Austrian family in 1912 as a holiday home. Since then, it has been used as a training facility by the Nazis, a children’s home for those displaced and in need, and is currently a retreat center for Christian groups in Europe.
It was pretty rainy the weekend we were there, but the clouds cleared a bit for our ferry ride on the Milstättersee. This was also the weekend that MiKela arrived! Jason picked her up that Saturday at the airport in Munich. I am glad that she was able to experience the retreat and this beautiful location with us.
